FAQ

Astro Masters have been approached many times by the people of Ayrshire and Central Scotland with questions about artificial grass and what it can do for them. Here we use our years of experience to answer some of the most frequently asked questions. If any questions do not appear below, feel free to contact us and ask us directly.

Q: What are the maintenance requirements for artificial lawns?

A: Synthetic grass is best known for its low maintenance. Brushing your artificial lawn to clear debris is recommended approximately once per month depending on your surroundings i.e. lots of falling leaves in the area. This brushing also keeps the pile standing up and looking clean and fresh. A full guide is available on our maintenance page.

Q: CAN I LAY ARTIFICIAL GRASS DIRECTLY ONTO SOIL?

A: Although this can be done it is not recommended without a high quality (membrane) layer to stop weeds from breaking through.

Q: CAN I LAY ARTIFICIAL GRASS DIRECTLY ONTO A HARD SURFACE OR DECKING?

A: If the area is free of residue, weeds and has good drainage, artificial grass can be laid on decking and other hard surfaces including flat roofs. If you wish to lay artificial grass directly on top of decking then some preparation work is required such as cleaning and treating the area.

Q: WHEN IS BEST TO CARRY OUT INSTALLATION?

A: There is no time like the present! Artificial grass can be installed at any time of the year.

Q: CAN SYNTHETIC GRASS BE EASILY CLEANED?

A: Simple hot soapy water can easily clean everyday spills. For more in-depth cleaning please see our maintenance page.

Q: WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL GRASS MADE FROM?

A: There are three main components in artificial grass: Polyethylene, polypropylene, and Nylon; all of which are very durable materials.

Q: DOES ARTIFICIAL GRASS WITHSTAND ALL WEATHERS?

A: Our artificial grass comes with guaranteed protection against sunlight/UV rays so that durability and prolonged colour are not compromised.

Q: ARE ARTIFICIAL LAWNS PET AND CHILD FRIENDLY?

A: Artificial lawns are perfectly safe for animals and children; both domestic and wild!

A: We cover Central Scotland and Ayrshire but will consider large-scale projects from further afield.
